How much does everything cost?

There is a one of subscription fee at the start of each term. This is stated in the handbook, as it can change.

Activities and camps can be expensive but they are always very good value for money. We must emphasise that we believe no child should ever miss-out due to financial restrictions. If you would like your child to participate and feel you can't afford it then speak to a member of the leadership team and we will be able to solve the problem.

Are there any rules and regulations?

Unfortunately, yes. Because we are such a large Pack we have some policies to help things run smoother for both you and us. Listed below are some things to bear in mind:

  1. Attendance: If your child is absent for three consecutive weeks without prior notification we will remove them from our records and assume a lack of interest. You will receive an automatic reminder after the second week. We ask that you always inform us if your child will be absent.
  2. Uniform: Scouting is a uniformed organisation and therefore we expect it to be worn. Please look at the guidelines in the handbook for more information. The Cubs will receive team-points for their uniform. Constant failure to wear uniform will result in your child being asked to leave. If any child turns up to go on a trip or residential not wearing their uniform we will refuse to take them.
  3. Collection: We will retain any child in the hall after meetings until they are collected by a parent/carer. If someone else is collecting your child, please let us know to prevent any inconvenience.
  4. Bullying: All children are given one chance with bullying. If any child is caught bullying they are given one warning. If caught again they will be asked to leave the Pack – no discussion. Bullying will not be tolerated.

We know some of those rules sound really scary... but because of our long waiting list, large size and good reputation we are required to set them and will not hesitate in implementing them. We thank you for your support in this.

Anything else?

Not really, that's pretty much it!

We can almost guarantee that your child will have an amazing time growing up within our Cub Pack. If you want to speak to other parents about it then feel free – we can provide you with information of parents who are willing to talk to newcomers about the Pack. Furthermore, if you have any questions that we haven't answered in this letter – just ask!

There is one final thing I would like to stress: It is unfair for your child to be part of this Group if you are not prepared to let them participate in the activities we run. It can be very upsetting for a child to never be on the photos and to not be able to join-in conversations with the other children about the trips and residential holidays we do. Please, please, please – participate!
