The Wallasey District Cubs trip to the Old School Lodge in Snowdonia, North Wales this year went off an absolute storm. For the youngsters to meet Cub Scouts from other Packs and the leaders sharing ideas, it's always a great experience for both adults and children!

The programme was based around the Local Knowledge Badge and included the following...

On Saturday we visited the fantastic Caenarfon Castle where we had the opportunity to explore its long and winding spiral-staircases, enjoy the stunning views from the towers and get a real insight into what it must have been like to live in a castle. We also visited the Ogwen Mountain Rescue Centre and had the chance to see some of the exciting equipment that they use on a regular basis to help save the lives of mountaineers walking locally. We finished the day off with each group of children creating a poster of what they'd learnt about Caenarfon Castle using pictures, information and their own artist's skills. They looked great!

Sunday included the National Slate Museum where the Cubs were given the chance to watch and experience what it's like to cut the slates and also watched a short video about the history of the slate industry in Llanberis.

The most special experiences of the weekend are watching the Cubs building new friendships and renewing old ones.

A great success and big thanks are deserved to all those who helped plan, organise and run the trip.
