1st August 2007 marked the 100th Anniversary since Lord Baden-Powell held his experimental camp on Brownsea Island in 1907. This camp was known as the birthmark of Scouting.

The 3rd Wallasey Scout Group celebrated this event, in large numbers, along with other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the Wallasey District on the highest point in Harrison Park.

The Beavers and Cubs held a sleepover in the Church Hall the night before. We played lots of games, had a camp fire; which was a first time experience for a lot of the young people who participated, sung Happy Birthday to Scouting with a special Centenary cake (which we ate!) and then watched a film before going to bed.

We woke up at 5:00am to start making a full English breakfast. Once that had been eaten we paraded (... or walked in two's) to Harrison Park to meet the Scouts and other Groups.

The children had the chance to let-off a red balloon which was labelled with a return address. The vision of 100 balloons floating off into the sky was quite a sight. The District Commissioner brought about 10 cakes... which all went down very well, at 7:30am!!!

2 Beavers being invested before the fun begins!

Our special Centenary Cake... it looked and tasted great!
